CRD – Live Online Bitesize Event: Using Drones for the Application of Pesticides in Great Britain
Introduction
HSE will be holding a 2-hour Bitesize Event on the use of drones for the application of pesticides. The aim of the event will be to ensure there is a shared understanding of the current issues and likely future developments, as well as to provide guidance for proposing and supporting applications to use drones to apply pesticides.
The event will cover drone pesticide application policy and procedures, with a particular emphasis on the main elements risk assessment that need to be considered when preparing an application.
The session will be presented by Chemical Regulations Division Policy and Regulatory Specialists who will be available to answer your questions throughout the event.
The course will cover:
- Drone use policy and procedures
- The application and authorisation process and procedures
- Environmental fate – the importance of drift and how to include drift cases, data and studies in your application
- Operator exposure – the risks to operators when applying pesticides with drones
- Efficacy – new use scenarios: issues to consider

Who should attend?
The event will be targeted at technical and regulatory staff involved in the production and submission of data into the GB pesticide authorisation process. The event will also provide relevant information for parties who have an interest in the development of drones to apply pesticides, in particular operating companies, and those for whom this application technology may offer an additional/complementary method for controlling pests, weeds and diseases.
